SITG Works Council

The history of the SITG Works Council at KGHM CUPRUM dates back to the 1960s and is inextricably linked to the establishment of the CUPRUM Copper Research and Design Works in Wrocław. From the very beginning, CUPRUM was a natural place for the integration of mining engineers and technicians within the structures of the Association of Mining Engineers and Technicians.

The first members of the Club were experienced engineers who had been associated with SITG since the early 1950s and who, in the following years, formed the core of the engineering staff of the newly established plant. From its early years, the Club operated within the structures of the SITG Branch in Lubin.

Over the decades, the Circle brought together employees from the design and research departments, in particular miners and geologists. The preserved archives document over 250 membership applications registered by the end of the 1980s. The Club’s activities focused on organizing courses, thematic meetings, technical trips, and initiatives promoting the integration of the professional community.

Currently, the SITG Company Club at KGHM CUPRUM has 42 members and is one of 15 clubs operating within the Lubin Branch, continuing a long tradition of integration, professional development, and exchange of experiences among mining engineers and technicians.

The members of the Association include both experienced, long-term employees of the company and young, dynamically developing engineering staff. They represent a wide range of specialties in the field of natural and technical sciences – from innovative mining technologies, shaft design and underground construction, mining aerology and rock excavation technology, through automation, mechanization, and electrical engineering in mines, to the analysis and prevention of hazards in underground mining, modern methods of copper ore processing, geodetic monitoring of mining areas, materials research, revitalization of degraded areas, and protection of mining heritage.

We are united by our passion for our profession, development, and community. The diverse interests of the Association’s members create an active, integrated community of mining engineers and technicians.
