About us
The history of KGHM CUPRUM sp. z o.o. – Research and Development Centre started over fifty years ago – in 1967. It is when Copper Research and Design Centre „Cuprum” was established, constituting a part of Copper Mining-Smelting Combine in Lubin. Our Company is their natural successor and has been continuing their activity for years. From the very beginning, „Cuprum” was to provide complex research and design services for Lubin and Głogów Copper Mining Region. The Company has been acting in this form, being wholly owned by KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. (constituting at the same time a part of KGHM Capital Group) since 1 January 1993.
KGHM CUPRUM supports a copper giant in the implementation of the strategy, development of a resource base, diversification of the activity, and in creating development and innovative technological solutions. The activity of our Company is not limited only to the cooperation with the entities from the capital group of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. and the copper mining region on the Fore-Sudetic Monocline. Our specialists work for bituminous coal mines in the Upper Silesia and for the Salt Mine in Wieliczka, they also take part in exploration works outside the territory of Poland. Our clients include nonmining enterprises and foreign partners with which we implement projects financed by the European Union.
9 January 2009 is an important date for KGHM CUPRUM – then, the Minister of Economy granted our Company the status of research and development centre.
