COREstyr – SYSTEM FOR STORING AND SECURING GEOLOGICAL SAMPLES
COREstyr, an innovative system for storing and securing geological samples (including drill cores), is an alternative to the commonly used method of storing cores in wooden boxes.
PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY
Plastic injection molding technology was chosen for the production of packaging. The material selected for the production of packaging for storing geological samples is called EPS, or expanded polystyrene, which is styrofoam obtained by foaming polystyrene granules.
EPS material is characterized by:
- excellent insulating properties
- excellent shock absorption properties
- low weight
- low moisture absorption
- resistance to weather conditions
- it is environmentally friendly (recyclable)
EPS is chemically and biologically inert and odorless. It does not provide a breeding ground for microorganisms, meets high environmental standards, and is subject to recycling processes.
It is also possible to manufacture packaging from EPS-FR and Neopor.
EPS-FR is a variant of standard EPS with the addition of a self-extinguishing material.
Neopor packaging is gray in color due to the addition of graphite particles, which increases the insulating properties of the packaging by 20%.
