Industrial construction and material research

  • Specification of physical properties (density, porosity, absorbability, slakeability).
  • Specification of resistance and deformation properties (compression, shearing, stretching, bending) in complex stress conditions (uniaxial and triaxial for pressures of 200 MPa).
  • Examination of resistance properties of concrete, plastic and minerals, cast iron and steel.
  • Determination of stress and deformation characteristics of rocks covering pre- and post-destruction conditions.
  • Model examination of reaction of rock pillars in static and dynamic load conditions.
  • Examination of parameters of hydraulic backfill, such as:
    • Granulometric composition of backfill materials,
    • compressibility,
    • water permeability,
    • erosion,
    • density (specific, bulk, volume),
    • chemical and radiological markings.
  • Examination of parameters of solidified backfill, including paste fill and fullering compound such as:

Geology

Petrographic and mineralogical workroom

Preparation of geological material and petrographic and mineralogical examination with the use of optical microscopy

Polishing workroom

  • Making thin covered preparations with a coverslip in a standard size of 48×28 mm,
  • Making universal preparations (uncovered) single side polished in a standard size of 48×28 mm,
  • Making universal preparations (uncovered) double side polished in a standard size of 48×28 mm,
  • Making bulk included preparations from ready material (light transmitted and direct),
  • Making 1-inch discs to be tested in an electron scanning microscope,
  • Making polished microsection for observance of ory minerals,
  • Making polished microsections for the purpose of documentary photography,
  • Cutting and forming of rock material.

Microscope workroom

  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of rocks and minerals in transmitted and direct light,
  • High-resolution digital photographic documentation of microscope preparations with a computer analysis of image with the use of NIS-Elements BR software,
  • 3D imaging with extended depth of field of fragments of rock samples with the use of stereoscope microscope integrated with Leica Application Suite (LAS) software.
