About us / Research departments

Energy Technologies Department

Our Department conducts complex research in the area of sustainable energy economy (both electric and thermal). Works that we perform concern selection and analysis of alternative technologies of mining and conversion of energy resources, taking account of their influence on the environment.

We are also experienced in the scope of optimization of energy consumption in energy consuming technological processes of chemical processing of mineral resources. Thorough approach towards issues presented by the interdisciplinary team of specialists enables to work out technologies starting with the phase of preliminary estimates, through research and modelling, and ending with possibility and feasibility studies, taking account of both formal and legal actions and economic analyses concerning potential investments.

Experience gained and the aforementioned complex approach to undertakings enables us to execute innovative research in the scope of optimised recovery of waste energy in technological lines (waste heat and accompanying gases, including methane), energy carriers storage (e.g. warehouses in salt beds) and geothermics (both classic thermal heat stations and closed excavations, mines or other facilities with energy potential).

We carry out analyses of the possibility of using the heat of geothermal waters for recreational and heating purposes. We determine the geothermal potential for selected reservoir complexes. We assist investors in the range of formal and legal conditions of their activities from the stage of investment preparation, determination of environmental impact to the conditions of usage of a geothermal borehole. We develope a concept of a research installation to verify the possibility of using the heat of water obtained from a geothermal borehole and the analysis of the conditions of using geothermal resources necessary for the needs of the application for co-financing of investments under the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management programmes.
